
Claradan Homemade Treats was not something I dreamed about for years or even sat down
and strategically planned out. I have always loved cooking and took cooking and Food
Technology classes in High School. For one of our assignments at school, we had to pretend
we were setting up our own business and figure out all the logistics and financial aspects of
pricing and producing food... At the time, I would never have guessed I would one day be
cooking food to sell, much less operating a hobby-business with my husband!
I remember cooking some marmalades and jams when I was at school, and helping or
watching my mother make spreads over the years... When I met Dan, I discovered his mother
made many spreads and other kitchen treats from scratch over the years. This inspired in me an
interest in some of the American spreads, as well as other kinds of spreads. One day when
we were shopping after we got married, I found a recipe book which I discovered to
be a real treasure. Dan, Mom and
my sister-in-law encouraged me to try cooking different recipes, and soon I got the cooking
bug!
As I started experimenting with different recipes, and my stockpile of jars grew, it struck me
that many people out there enjoy homemade goods, and might like to buy some of my
jams and jellies... especially because jellies are an American ‘thing’ and not readily available
in Australia. And that was how Claradan Homemade Treats began.
I want to thank my beloved husband Dan, and Mom, Mary and my family for the
different ways they have supported me in my new business venture. And if any of you don’t
like the products.... blame Dan... he is my official taster!!
Dan and I are blessed with two precious Little Ones - Holly and Daniel.
